T C Lethbridge – The Power of the Pendulum
I have a pen friend, Mrs V. Beresford, who lives in the Beaconsfield area. I have never met her. She is a very keen and efficient research worker in all these odd subjects. On 30th November 1969, I woke to see a small, highly-coloured bird of the parrot family peering out of some box or hole. I did not take much notice of the bird, for a strange voice was speaking .I could hear the words, which seemed to be: 'Budgie is very peeved. His sole of rubber . . . has been spotted. '
That morning I wrote to Mrs Beresford and told her about this dream. By return of post, sent on 2nd December, I had a letter from her saying she had received mine and had been very surprised by what it said, for on 1st December a strange budgerigar had flown in through her window. She had put it in a spare cage and remarked to a neighbour:
'A budgie, he's pleased. He knew somehow he'd have a safe harbour here.'
……….although the words I apparently heard were not the same as those which were spoken a hundred miles away in Beaconsfield, their sound, probably not remembered exactly by either of us, was so similar that one can hardly doubt that they were the same. Since my earth observer was asleep, the whole incident appears to argue some kind of telepathic communication between Mrs Beresford's observer two and my observer two. Further than this, the whole thing suggests a very great deal of activity on the part of the observers on the second level. The incident was so trivial that clearly much else must pass between the two observers. One might think that they study each other's films. I am inclined to think that those who believe that they are to enjoy a period of laziness and rest when they die are in for a considerable surprise.
