We have now to deal with our second experiment. Do pebbles always take up the sex rate of the thrower if they are projected with force? For this experiment we each collected about a hundred rounded pebbles from Seaton beach. They were picked up with a pair of iron tongs and dropped into buckets. The pebbles we each picked up were kept separate, but this apparently was not necessary, for when brought back and tested there was no reaction to anything but the l4-inch rate for silica from any of them.
The pebbles were then thrown in groups of fifty, one by one, at a wall in the garden. It [was] evident that the sex rate of the thrower can be impressed on the field of the object thrown. Once impressed it seems to remain there indefinitely.
