Background

A description of the experience

T C Lethbridge – ESP Beyond Time and Distance

I think it must be admitted, if we accept any form of dowsing at all, that we are dealing with an unclassified subject.

It seems impossible to deny that water can be detected and hidden objects found by dowsing. To do so would simply be obscurantism and laziness. Therefore we must admit that we are dealing with something we do not understand and examine it according to its seemingly strange phenomena.

But is there anything very unusual about having to adopt such a course? How would the learned men of the days of Charles II have reacted if they had been told about atoms and the enormous power that could be released by splitting them? They would not have believed a word of it.

The scientists of today are very proficient along their own particular lines of study, but only along their particular lines. They are like a row of hurdlers racing. They cannot leave their particular track and jump hurdles on either side of their own. Now it seems that dowsing adds yet another track and it by no means follows that the hurdler on this track will come in last.

For the old timers, who did study this subject, maintained that unlimited power could be obtained by it. They may have told the truth.
