The Art of Dying – Drs Peter and Elizabeth Fenwick
In this account coincidence is piled on coincidence. It struck - for the first time in living memory - at the moment her great-uncle pointed at it. It struck approximately the right time. And it struck at the moment of its owner's death.
In the early 1970s my great-uncle (my grandmother's brother) died at home. He lived with my grandparents. On the wall at the foot of his bed, was an old casement clock. It was about 100 wars old and had been 'passed down' to him. To my knowledge, it had never worked. My grandfather said that as my great-uncle was dying, he suddenly pointed to the clock. It struck 4 p.m. about the right time, and then my great-uncle died.
