Background

A description of the experience

Demain [1942]

Tomorrow

Aged by a Hundred thousand years, I will still have the strength
To wait for you, O tomorrow approached by hope.
Time, old man with multiple sprains,
Can moan: new is the morning , new is the evening.

But for too many months we live for today,
We make sure we guard the light and the fire,
We speak in a whisper and we stretch the ear
To many a noise quickly extinguished and lost like a game.

But in the depths of the night, we witness yet
The splendor of the day and all present.
If we do not sleep , it is to watch the dawn
Which will prove at last we live for the present.
