A description of the experience

Love is the Link – Dr Pamela Kircher

One man told of a time when he was very depressed, seeing a psychiatrist, and taking anti-depressant medications. One day in therapy he said he felt that God punished people who tried to commit suicide. His psychiatrist looked surprised and asked,

"You don't believe in God, do you?"

He thought that over for the rest of the day and decided to kill himself that night. If there wasn't a God to punish him, he felt as though he would like to stop his life right then.

As he prepared to take an overdose of anti-depressant medication, he suddenly found himself out of his body and in the presence of the infinite love of God. In that presence he understood that he was here to learn about love and that suicide would keep him from learning what he needed to learn. After that, he never seriously considered suicide again. His recovery process from the depression was greatly faciliated by the experience.
