A description of the experience

The Healing power of Herbal teas – Ceres Esplan

Calamint – Calamintha sylvatica – False Catwort, Bruisewort is a small but spicily fragrant herb which grows wild on moist ledges and stream banks and in downland hedgerows.  It can easily be cultivated in gardens and makes a change from the flavours of ordinary mints and thymes.

The dried leaves are sometimes prescribed for use as a ‘sweat stimulator’ to draw out feverish colds, and als as an expectorant for the tenacious mucus which follows winter ailments, as well as a tonic herb.

Apart from this, Calamint makes a pleasant cordial infusion and ne which Culpepper said is ‘good for the brain’.

The scalded leaves can be used as a poultice to ‘lift’ persistent bruises.
