With sorrow and grief
Aimlessly I wandered, and
Found myself among tombstones,
The markings of repose and peace.
I tarried among them all,
My head buried in my hands,
Seeking solace for my burdened heart
And peace for my troubled soul.
All earthly trials hung
Heavily on my mortal mind.
Fainter my heart seemed to beat;
My soul pleaded for relief;
My body for existence.
For full realization I cried;
To free the body of all pain;
To give freedom to the soul.
A hazy curtain fell upon me.
My senses became transformed.
I seemed made of nothing-the I-
An ether substance of all things.
New senses came of which I never knew;
Melody without music, balmy and soft,
The ecstasy of unknown communion,
Unknown to mortal heart was mine.
Something beckoned me-a love-
A love unknown to mortals.
