A most curious process occurs among musical composers, according to Julius Bahler (Der Musikalische Schaffensprozess, Leipzig, Hirzel 1936; also quoted by Delacroix).  Several of them see their creations in their initial conception in a visual form – inspiration he calls ‘Ton vision’.  One of them perceives in that way, without any precise musical presentation,

the main line and main characteristics of his music.  Besides it is perhaps rather difficult to say to what extent music is absent from that formal schema’.
