I've had one full colour moving hypnopompic experience upon awaking in the middle of the night, of a person (shoulders up) in exquisite detail. It was very very different from other imagery I have had occasionally when awaking or falling asleep.
Despite the 'hallucination' label these experiences have been given, I've seen no particularly satisfying explanation as to why the fully formed, full colour, highly detailed type hypnopompic experience, is also overwhelmingly of people or animals, and very rarely of inanimate everyday objects.
