.....every human being bears within himself a higher 'man', besides the everyday man, as we may call him. This higher 'man' remains hidden until he is awakened, and he can be awakened only by each individual himself.
But as long as this higher being is not awakened, the higher faculties which slumber in everyone and lead to supersensible knowledge will remain concealed.

….man ordinarily carries body, soul and spirit about with him but is conscious in a true sense only of his body, not of his soul and spirit. The pupil of occult science becomes conscious of the soul and spirit just as ordinary man is conscious of his body. Hence the important thing is to give the thoughts and feelings the right direction, for only then can one develop perception of things that are invisible in everyday life.
