The Wisdom of Near-Death Experiences – Dr Penny Sartori

Below is a brief example of a prototypical ND interpreted in a distressing way:

This is something which I experienced when I was 27 years old, more than 26 years ago. At that time I only told my husband what had happened. Whenever I read about NDEs everyone always states how calm they were - my experience was quite the opposite.

I was in hospital in a lot of pain; my husband was sitting by the bed. I felt that I was falling in and out of sleep. I looked out of the window and I could see a very bright tunnel leading up to the sky and the clouds parted. Every time my eyes closed I was drawn towards the tunnel. I became very agitated and did not want to go.

I remember saying to somebody, 'I don't want to come, my son is only 3, he needs me.' I told my husband that he must not let me go to sleep because I knew if I closed my eyes I would have gone through the tunnel.
